THE ILLUMINATION EXHIBIT

RUMI, EINSTEIN & OTHERS
ILLUMINATE THE MYSTERY OF HOW THINGS ARE
-------------AN EXHIBIT------------
Art illuminating science • Science illuminating the sacred • The sacred illuminating art.

We live in extraordinary times. Long-held value-systems crumble, while physicists, seeking the fundamental nature of reality, confirm the insights of mystics. 30,000 years of philosophical art and thought is available at any library. New connections suddenly resolve age-old questions. A new, sacred world-outlook is taking hold around the world. Suddenly a 13th century Sufi named Rumi is America's most-read poet. In The Illuminated Rumi, I began exploring in book-form how the interplay of art, science and spirit can illuminate this shift. But a large vision demands scale–big canvases, totemic sculpture, multimedia–an interactive narrative installation where Rumi's poetry joined with the insights of science can create a walk-through scripture, a "yantra," casting clear light on the mystery of consciousness

\Proposed exhibit space is the Herbst International Exhibit Hall ( 50’ x 112’), in San Francisco's Presidio. Time, early 2002
